Laboratory Centre

Laboratory Centre within the Accredited Testing Laboratory performs post-harvest tests and routine laboratory diagnosis of potato viral diseases and potato variety identification using tuber protein electrophoresis for state administration, breeding stations and agricultural public. Simultaneously, testing for quarantine bacterial diseases is done for seed certification. In vitro healthy initial material of high biological value is developed for maintenance breeding of inland varieties and perspective potato hybrids. Additional activity involves production of balcony plants.

Main activities

• post-harvest greenhouse tests of potato samples and laboratory diagnosis of viral infections using the ELISA assay (accredited method)
• diagnosis of quarantine bacterial diseases of potato (accredited method)
• tuber protein electrophoresis in polyacrylamide gel (accredited method)
• in vitro propagation of certified initial clones of potato varieties based on customer’s request and pre-growing in greenhouse
• propagation of older potato varieties with high-table quality (Keřkovské rohlíčky)

• production of plant material in the form of test tube plantlets, in vitro microtubers, rooted plants in seed pots and tubers of various size fractions from technical isolates
• consultancy in plant growing in field nethouses or direct field growing under fleece cover
